Legacy is Calgary’s newest residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of the city, just five minutes past the Shawnessy Shopping Centre.
Planning for the community began in 2001, with sales opening up in 2013. Developed by WestCreek Developments, this community is perfect for any stage of life. WestCreek is using acclaimed builders such Albi, Shane Homes, Brad Remington Homes, Jayman BUILT, Sterling Homes, Morrison Homes, and Calbridge Homes, to name a few.
Legacy was designed with families of all different socioeconomic statuses in mind. The builders developed condos, townhouses, duplexes, single family homes, and estate properties, widely ranging in price. The variety in the homes and prices available creates a perfect fit for any lifestyle.
Condos– Carlisle Group (starting from the $200’s); Legacy Park (Starting from $119,000)
Townhomes– Aldebaran Homes (starting from the $320’s)
Move-up Homes– Calbridge Homes (starting from the $450’s); Jayman BUILT (starting from the $500’s); Stepper Homes (starting from the $460’s); Sterling Homes (starting from the $500’s); Trico Homes (starting from the $650’s); Westcreek Homes (starting from the $500’s)
Legacy is unique in that it provides both city and mountain views from the community, which are also accompanied by the expanse of the Pine Creek Valley to the south. The Pine Creek Valley includes 300 acres of developer-protected environmental reserve, free for the residents to explore and enjoy.
Within the community, there are 15 kilometres of paved walkways past ponds, off-leash dog parks, playgrounds, and an organic community garden. Designed with aesthetics and active living in mind, Legacy is a timeless addition to South Calgary. In 2016, Legacy was named Community of the Year – City of Calgary, at the regional Sales & Marketing awards.
With quick access to Macleod Trail (Highway 2A) and Marquis of Lorne Trail (Highway 22X), Legacy allows you to enjoy living amongst the serenity of nature, without ever being far from the amenities of the big city. As the community is still in the development phase, there are many plans scheduled in the future for amenities right in Legacy.
For example, there are plans in the works for four schools (the high school opening in 2018) and 800,000 sq. ft. of retail space right within the community. However, with legacy being only a five minute drive from Shawnessy, homeowners will have easy access to all amenities such as movie theatres, restaurants, grocery stores, and retail shops.
As well, the Legacy community is only minutes from the brand new South Health Campus Hospital. There are many pros and cons to the Legacy community in Calgary, as it is an extremely new development, there is still a long way to go for the community to be fully complete and equipped with amenities.
It also is quite far from the interior of the city, making commuting into downtown tough. However, despite these cons, Legacy provides families the perfect balance between quiet and busy, nature and city-living. It boasts with possibility and growth for the future, and could be a community which will fit perfectly into nearly every family’s lifestyle.
